Short Biography


Eline Muijres is Communications Manager at Dutch Game Garden, a game incubator and business center with 3 locations in the Netherlands. Eline has a background in production, marketing, and research, previously at independent game studio Game Oven, known for Bounden and Fingle. 


CURRENT INTERESTS:


1. What current technologies and tools fulfill your needs in your practice?


PC and Mac Hardware, Wacom Tablets, Various Development kits for consoles, tablets and phones, Unity, Game Maker (small developers), Own development engines, Unreal, Maya, 3D Studio Max, Photoshop


2. What technologies do you see emerging in the next 5-10 years?


Virtual Reality devices, Oculus Rift, Morpheus, Mobile platforms, Mixed Reality Installations (e.g. museums)


3. Could you identify any strengths and weaknesses with these technologies?


Strengths – encourage greater games diversity, curiosity and experimentation leading to more people playing games


Weaknesses – devices are expensive for home use and perhaps encourage solitary play rather than being social


FUTURE INTERESTS:


4. Do you think there are additional technologies or tools needed, or that you would wish for?


Tools to help promote and market products and identify target markets, tools for co-working and knowing who is playing your games, new sensors and input devices

 

5. If these were available what would you be creating?


More diverse games created by use of new sensors and input devices that make new things possible


6. Can you see any strengths and weakness involved?


Strengths – more diverse range of games, greater accessibility, new opportunities for serious games in health and education


7. What do you recommend to fill the gap between creators and technology providers?


Collaboration between designers and programmers
Training creative staff how to program and technology basics
